The SilvaNet–WoodNet 2026 Student Scientific Conference will take place on 26–27 November 2026 at the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology, Mendel University in Brno. The conference aims to provide a platform for students to present and discuss the results of their creative, scientific, and research activities. It also offers participants an opportunity to gain experience in presenting at scientific conferences, share their research findings, and establish contacts for future scientific collaboration. The official language of the conference is English.
Oral presentations in the scientific sessions will take place on 27 November 2026. The conference covers a broad range of research areas represented at the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology. Student contributions will address forest ecology, economics and management of renewable natural resources, forest phytology, forest management planning, forest phytopathology and mycology, wood materials engineering, game management, forest protection, silviculture, furniture design and manufacturing processes, forestry engineering and technologies, landscape planning and conservation, and engineering structures in the landscape. The conference thus brings together forestry, landscape management, wood science, technology, and economics, enabling students to present their research across the faculty’s diverse scientific disciplines.
A new feature of this year’s conference is an expanded Poster Session, starting on 26 November 2026 at 15:00, linked to the annual Best Student Poster Competition organised within the Horizon Europe EXCELLENTIA project. This collaboration will introduce a competitive element and expert evaluation of the presented research. The winning poster will receive a financial award of CZK 5,000, which the awarded student can use to support their further research activities. The aim is to encourage students not only to present their research findings but also to continue developing their research activities.
Posters will be installed on 25 November and remain on display at the faculty from 26 November until 4 December 2026. As in previous years, the posters will also be published in the online SilvaNet–WoodNet poster gallery on the faculty’s website. The financial award may be used, for example, to purchase research consumables, cover travel expenses related to fieldwork, attend a scientific or professional conference, or support other expenses directly related to the awarded student’s research activities.
