Background – where we work

  • Building B on the University campus – houses the main facilities for teaching and research. In addition to our offices, the 1st and 3rd floors hose classrooms, specialised training rooms, a metal workshop and the Department’s library. The metal workshop and the specialised training rooms are used by the Department for both research and teaching activities.
  • The Department of Technology Library is located on the 3rd of Building B and contains a valuable collection of several hundred specialised books, journals, student theses and other materials, all of which are regularly updated. The library facilities are also used for regular meetings of the Department’s staff, for representation activities, for teaching needs and for student final examinations.
  • The metal workshop can be found on the 1st floor of Building B. The workshop has all necessary equipment for practical demonstrations of professional activities during teaching and for the maintenance and repair of equipment used in the teaching and scientific research activities of the Department.
  • A specialised ergonomics training room is located on the 3rd floor of Building B. The classroom is equipped with height-adjustable tables, a demonstration of ergonomic chairs, a digital foot scale and other equipment for workload assessment.
  • The specialised harvester measurement and control systems training room is located on the 1st floor of Building B. The laboratory is equipped with a John Deere harvester and balancer simulator and computers with measurement, control and telematics systems.
  • A dedicated mechanical engineering training room, equipped with mobile and stationary measuring instruments used in the Department’s scientific research activities, is located on the 1st floor of Building B. The training room is also equipped with numerous demonstrations of motor-manual devices and machines used in forestry and arboriculture.
  • The Department maintains two classrooms for teaching: B04, on the 1st floor of Building B, which has a capacity of 30 students, and B23, on the 3rd floor of Building B, with a capacity of 60 students. Both classrooms have been renovated and are equipped with modern audiovisual technology.
  • A multi-purpose training room is located on the 1st floor of Building B. This is a modern multifunctional space with flexible furniture arrangement used for theoretical and practical teaching of specialised subjects or for holding workshops for students and professionals.

Cooperation – we are not alone

  • Both for teaching and research activities, cooperation with commercial forestry practice is crucial for the Department of Technology. Cooperation with partners, both in the Czech Republic and abroad, allows us to implement the results of our research activities into practice, which is also beneficial for our students in the implementation of their final theses. We also apply our practical experience in our teaching activities and through the organisation of workshops for students and the professional public.
